Sitting is   Our Biggest   Biggest Health Threat...and it's No   Joke 

 

Even the CDC is calling sitting, "The New Smoking."  In January 2015, The Annals of Internal Medicine published a paper analyzing the results of 47 studies done in just the last few years and found that sitting dramatically increases the risk of developing several serious illnesses ...even reducing our longevity.

 

Prolonged sitting 8 to 12 hours or more a day increases the risk of developing:

  • Type 2 Diabetes by a whopping 90%,

  • Cardiovascular Disease and Heart Attack by an unimaginable 125%                                                  

  • Overall Death Rate increase of 50%                                                                                             Wait ...sitting and smoking? 

 

These statistics are enormous ...would you drink a cup of tea if I told you it would increase your cancer risk by just 5%? 

 

BUT EXERCISE AND EATING HEALTHY WILL HELP, RIGHT?
Not quite ...the researchers say: “Studies have repeatedly shown the effects of long-term sitting are not reversible through exercise or other good habits."   ...but one did say that "elite level" training - defined as 4 hours of activity - might help ...which I'm sure you can fit into your schedule, right?

HOW AND WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?
The fact is, we’re designed to spend most of our time upright - that’s our most neutral posture. When upright, all the muscles of the body are in a state of ease and under the least stress and tension. 

Prolonged sitting puts our body in tension, making the neck strain forward, tightening the upper back and shoulders, and compressing the low back. The state of dis-EASE (literally "no-ease") that results puts tremendous strain on our Spinal Cord and Nervous System  ...which is why we're seeing all these chronic illnesses increased.


WHY DON'T WE RECOVER?

Long-term sitting produces spinal tension that eventually affects the Spinal Cord, which connects our Brain to our Body. This produces interference that interferes with how we think, feel, and relate to he world around us. It negatively affects how we eat, sleep, digest our food, and even how our immune system responds. In other words, it's not just affecting one's body, but one's ...everything.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SO ...WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? 
"Health is Earned, not Bestowed" is a saying I have in my Big Healing Room.  It's never been so true as it is now. In my almost 25 years in practice, I've never seen such problems, and in people much younger than before.
